Have you ever wondered who the lovely singer
for your favorite Studio Ghibli songs look like or what her name is?
Well his year at Hyper Japan the crowed got to
see Azumi Inoue, the singer behind many of our favorite theme songs for Hayao
Miyozaki movies like, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky and Ponyo.
Many of us know that she
made her debut in 1983 she first gained notice as the graceful singer of the
end theme for Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli animation movie, Laputa: Castle in
The Sky with “Carrying You.
The singer also made an appearance over the two days
show with her 11-year-old daughter ‘Yuyu who is also a singer.
The two singers began their live shows on the 15 & 16th July at Main stage.
Yuyu a star in
her own right first made her television debut in 2012 at
the age of seven on the public broadcasting channel NHK, performing the song
"6 Sai No Ballad" for the TV show “Minna No Uta “made
it a huge hit.
Yuyu, then collaborated with popular
rock band Watanabe Flower to release her second single "Tan Tan Tan"
in 2013 gained her up to 700,000 hits on YouTube was a great achievement at
such a young age.
Although
she has had huge success with other musicians, she had an amazing achievement in
2014, her song "Hanbun Otona", a duet performed with her mother Azumi
Inoue, was also broadcast on NHK's Minna No Uta, making it her third consecutive
song to be shown on the program, an amazing accomplishment.
With a talented mother like around Yuyu has a
great future ahead of her.
Although
many of us know Azumi Inoue’s voice from Studio Ghibli movies her voice and
music is loved and cherished by different generations she has she has also
performed theme songs for local authorities, classic songs from school
textbooks, as well as the official theme song for Peter Rabbit, another
children’s classic favorites.
This year’s
Hyper Japan had plenty of activities and talented acts, I wonder what next year’s
